MANY PICTURES OF MANY PROJECTS

A lot of pictures to show what my mother and I have been busy with.

I finished machine quilting the baby quilt for my cousin´s daughter:

I must say, I am pleased with the result. The colours were a bit out of my comfort zone but I got used to them. So much that I made a bag to go with the quilt!

The bag is not big enough to store the quilt in ( it is 10" x 9") but maybe big enough to put some nappies.

When my mother was here over Christmas, I gave her bits of fabric from the baby quilt and that´s what she made with them.

It is a wall hanging with appliqué and hand quilting.

Now the little girl will have something to snuggle up and something to look at!

Still no snow around here, not that I complain but my DS would like to use the sledge he got at Christmas!

Keep busy and inspired.

BACK FROM A LONG HOLIDAY

We have been back for a few days yet but it is only now that I find some time to post.
This is where we spent some of our time. My parents have a house there and even if the water was quite cold (so cold I did not get into it but my DH and DS did nearly everyday) and the weather on the wet side, it was a very nice holiday.

We did not do much apart from hanging around and sleeping but we still managed to visit a local fair where I had an interesting chat with these nice ladies. And before you ask, no, I have never worn such a costume myself!

I took a picture of my mum´s lattest work. It was a mystery quilt at her local quilt group.
Although my mum is not very fond of it, she was very brave and finished it!

No UFOs for her!

Since back I have been working on my confetti quilt and at some spinning.
Pictures of that will be next time.

Till then I wish you some nice time and hopefully warm weather.

FLIMSIES, TOPS, QUILTS, ...

As promised last week, here are some of my mum´s latest works.
The first one is a flimsy (but not for long, I know my mum!).

The second one is being quilted.
And the third one is finished. This one was a mystey from her quilt group. That means she did not know how it would look like at the end before she started. I think she did a good job with the color choices without having a clue of the end result.

Then this week, I finished my version of summer for the 4SQS. It is now on its way to ... far away!
We renovated my DS´s room this week so that I didn´t have much time for quilting. I did sew some curtains though so that I could spend some time in my sewing room! Next week should be calmer and I plan to machine quilt my scrappy stars top.

I wish you a nice week too!

OLDER QUILTS

As promised before my holidays, I made some pictures of quilts I made which are now in France at my parents´summer house.
But first 2 more little pouches for 2 nice ladies from our quilt group, who organize, keep lists, challenge us, ... I thought they deserved some goodies!

The 2 following quilts were made more than 10 years ago ( just have a look at the fabrics!). I sewed them with the machine and quilted them by hand.

Could that be that this one needs a wash?! It lies on a child´s bed hence the dirt!

I found the pattern on the book cover of a patchwork book ( "short cuts to great tops" or something like that) and I added the appliqué borders by hand.

For the second one, the rings are sewed with the paper-piecing method which I don´t like that much but which was much faster in this case.

I would choose much stronger colours if I were to sew that quilt again. But then I don´t think I WILL sew one like that again.!

As you can see from the side bar, I am taking part in the "4 seasons swap". We are already more than 25 from all over the world. It is going to be fun! The deadline is August the 18th, so if you want, feel free to join. I had a look at what the other participants do and what I find interesting is that all the styles are there.

It is raining cats and dogs here, so this week-end will be a quilty one.
I wish you better weather!
