MINI QUILTS

At the beginning of the week I received Cynthia´s siggy blocks.
I am so happy I could take part in the swap, all the blocks are nice and no two fabrics are alike. I have some of my own over so if anyone is interested in swapping, please let me know!

Today I will show you two miniatures I made last year for our new TV room. The room, under the roof is cream with red accents like cushions, curtains, quilt (I will show this one soon!), candles, etc... but the walls were quite bare and I thought minis would do the trick. They are machine sewed and not quilted as they don´t have any batting. Some of the fabrics are fussy cut.
The pictures are a bit blurred, sorry about that! I still have to learn to use my camera for near shots!

The weather is wonderful today, it doesn´t rain enough though and so I will go outside now and enjoy the sunset.

Oh LOL...I've just looked at the larger picture and those are the siggy blocks...ooops! Sorry I'm catching up with the blogs from the weekend with a glass of wine! Perhaps I shouldn't surf and drink at the same time! :o)

What fun minis and I love the way you framed them. Hmmn..I just re-decorated my office/den and the walls are a bit bare -- another great idea!

Gwen: At first glance I thought exactly what Jane Weston wrote! It does look like a circular flying geese. I read your comment about our siggie block exchange through Bea, and that is correct, she gave me your name. I am waiting on the pins and will mail them altogether, unless you all want the blocks now. I can't say how long the pins will take to receive them. It really doesn't matter to me! Connie

I love the mini's! But I really like your siggy blocks in a circle like that. Not that you can see the siggys anymore, but that sure does give one inspirations for something else like that!

That siggi circle you made seems to be quite a popular design...you might be on to something there, for a new quilt block pattern. But, somehow you need to show the signatures.

Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. Using a tripod for steadying the camera may help, it does for me.

The framed minis are fabulous... that's a great idea, I know how nice they must look in that room. The siggie blocks are grand... can't wait to see what you do with those.

Love the minis! Our group is having a challenge. We need to make a name tag that fits into a plastic name tag holder. It has to be a completed "quilt" with borders, binding ect.....

Thanks for the comments on Shiori-chan's calligraphy. Yes, she is an amazing student in almost all her subjects. I enjoy teaching her very much. I'll pass along your comments to her.

Your miniatures are lovely! Hey, I agree with Jane, wouldn't it be neat to be able to make a quilt with circular flying geese!

I tried to email you, but you've got your email hidden so I'm replying here.

Thanks for the recent advice about machine quilting.

I think my problem might be tension too or it might have something to do with the needle size. I've just been pouring over the Schmetz website and I think I need a needle with a large eye to accommodate the thread I'm using (it's a 40 weight quilting thread) I've ordered some 90/14 Schmetz Quilting needles from a lady on ebay and I'll try again when they arrive.

Failing that...I just "have" to get a new machine! :)

Take care,
Jane
