BLUE

Today, only blue things, well nearly! First a zucchini bread from a recipe from Connie. It was delicious. The mixture of zucchini, cinnamon and vanilla is a bit curious but it tasted great. Although I would not call it a bread but rather a cake and a rich one at that!

I received the lovely postcard from Britta after I had lent her a book. Thanks a lot again Britta. Maybe I shoud lend my books more often!

Then some pictures of my quilt-as-you-go sampler. I am coming along and the quilting is much easier with one block at a time. I am trying to improve my machine-quilting on that one and I am having fun trying a lot of different designs.
I hope to finish that quilt before september (the new course starts then) so that I can show it to the students who made the same blocks in the last course session.

It seems the weather is getting better at last so I am off to enjoy the last week-end before school starts!

Have a nice week-end too!

WOW! The quilt is sweet! Love the machine quilting on it! I understand what you mean about calling it cake, I would too. However, I think because it is shaped as a loaf, it is referred to as bread. If you made them into cups, they would be muffins I guess! ;o) lol Thanks for sharing!

The sampler is wonderful, Gwen!!! Love it! Both the colours and the qiuilting!

That zuchini bread looked a bit scary to me when I read Connie's recepie, but knowing you have tried it and "survived" as well, makes me want to give it a try *lol*

WOW ! Your sampler is soooo beautiful, Gwen. Not to mention the machine quilting !
I have often thought about having a try with the quilt-as-you-go method, but I haven't yet...
It's funny that all these different blues are attracting me, and I very rarely use the color blue in my quilts (they are very seldom in my stash, as well)... Will have to think about that !

Hugs & smiles...
(thanks for your kind words on my blog)

The quilting is gorgeous. Glad you liked the zucchini bread recipe. I made some a few weeks ago and this batch was very cake-like as opposed to in the past when it was more bread-like. I think the zucchini this year had more liquid when I shredded it. Perhaps that was a factor? And, I tried baking it in a 9x13 pan instead of loaf pans and it was again cake-like in that respect.

Hi again, Gwen!

Thank you for your sweet comment on my SBS blocks! Your plans for a Civil war diary sampler sounds great! Hope you will share pictures! Maybe someday I'll give that a go as well, but for now the next big sampler on my list is Dear Jane (whenever I get to start...).

Take care!

The sampler is beautiful, I need to learn how to do more than simple meandering, where did you learn the designs you used?
